Yep ,you heard that right ,this young lady wants a 67 fast back so we are going to build her one !
She found a nice looking 68 coupe ,delivered it along with all the conversion parts .
It is supposed to storm here for just about the next 8 days so it may be a week before i get started .
The floors look good although i did find one hole on the passenger side rear that looks easy enough . I will know for sure after i blast the floor .

Subscribing. The conversion on that 65 was really cool and to see how the conversion is actually done was really cool.

Speaking of which...

Horse Sense... Consider hiring a kid with half a brain, a digital camera, and some basic video editing skills, to follow you around and record what you do. Let em watch you cuss, bang, grind, weld bend and shape.

If you're half the crusty fuk I think you are, you'll have a million followers in 2 years.

I went out a bought a new spot welder tonight ,this one is supposed to be able to handle up to 3/16 . I will get it put together tomorrow and put a end on the cord and try it out . It can only be used in a few places but the places i do need to use it will save a lot of time and grinding . I have seen the reviews and they seem to be good .
Been storming here so i haven't had a chance to start cutting but it is supposed to clear up this weekend so i may get to start cutting off panels .

I put a new end on the cord. It needed adjusting so i got out the Alan wrenches ,there is 4 screws that have to be loosened ,3 loosened no problem ,the forth someone had tightened so tight i like to never got it loose ! Finally adjusted and tried it out ,this first one is 20 gauge ,close to Dynacorn sheet metal and it welded no problem at all
The next metal measured out to 19 gauge and it also welded with no problem
The only problem i see is the tips like to stick to the metal ,i may try some mig welder cone spray and see what that does . It is also heavy so i may try to rig a shoulder strap to help hold it up . This one is a huge improvement over Harbor Freights old spot welder and i cant wait to put it to use!

I decided to build the two door frames today ,there is 4 pieces that need to be welded together . I welded them with the mig by plug welding ,i want to save the spot welder for the roof and around the trunk and the quarters.
Passenger side is welded ,ground and ready ,going to start on driver side next

Driver side is done ,i said it before and i will say it again ,if you align the notches in the metal as best as you can these pieces just fall together !
We have rain coming again so i cant start cutting the body apart until its over ,so i hope next week to have it at least cut apart .

In response to post #8, last picture, I have wondered about using a rosin based flux to dip the panel spotter tips in. I just started serching and came up with this. When we were using our old PanelSpotter, we always had the tips sticking. I'm currently trying to find new tips for it. So far, no luck. This would be the big green welder that I posted a pic of on another thread of yours.
I bet your new 220-240 spotter works better than any 110-120 unit!

Not sure what your tips are like ,the ones on this spot welder screw in ,but if they are not tight they will burn the threads out and the tips will fall out . You may need a machine shop to make you a few sets . This new one actually came with a spare set and thats is good because they really dont last all that long

You know all those holes i drilled yesterday ,i felt pretty stupid when i suddenly remembered i bought a new hole puncher ,the passenger side only took a fraction of the time that the driver side did drilling the holes !

I found our first problem ! Passenger windshield post is toast ,but only the outside ,but it goes down into the top hinge part. I am hoping i can trim away just the top and replace that without having to disturb anything else . Driver side is perfect! I will have to remove the passenger side door to fix the rot
