A/C Problem

I recently removed my stock stereo to check that I purchased the correct wiring harness for my new aftermarket stereo. To do so, I removed the gearshift trim panel and the trim panel around the radio, and disconnected the radio. After doing so, I realized that I didn't purchase the harness for using my new aftermarket radio with my stock amps. I left the stock radio out, but put back the two trim panels and headed to Radio Shack to see if they had the harness in stock that I needed. On my way, I noticed that my A/C was not cold at all. In fact it was a little hot. Before I started working on my my stereo, the A/C was working just fine. I'm thinking that I may have done something while removing the radio. Did I mess it up by driving with the stereo disconnected? Or maybe I pulled something with one of the cables that was connected to the radio?

Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated.

You didn't by any chance pull out the climate control panel that the knobs are connected to did you? If so you discharged the lines.

I was using a short socket to remove the two bolts at the bottom of the radio, so I pulled off only the knobs, but I left the panel itself on. The only thing I disconnected other than the radio are the cigarette lighter and the three buttons on the bottom of the main trim panel (rear defrost, fog lights, and traction control). All of which I reconnected before I started the car.

On a side note, I disocnnected the negative battery cable before I started working on the car, and I reconnected it after I reconnected the three buttons and the cigarette lighter.

The first thing that comes to mind is a blown fues. Check your fuse box to make sure all your fuses are fine. After that, check if the compressor runs. If it doesn't run, then check the pressure in the system and try to figure out why it doesn't run.

Most likely you just pulled a connector or vacuum hose off of the A/C control panel, which will kill the A/C and/or heater and defroster.

Sorry it took so long to post back. There's been som tropical storms and a hurricane here over the past week. Anyways, I was able to take a second look after checking the fuses. I found that when I removed there stereo, I seem to have pulled the vacuum hose from the A/C control panel. Reconnecting it completely fixed the problem. I feel kinda stupid for not noticing it in the first place.
