Mustang II Sleigh

'Twas the night before Christmas, with no time for delay
the elves stacked the presents, in Santa's old sleigh
The reindeer were fed, and ready to go
the rooftops were glistening, all covered with snow

The sleigh was so heavy, being packed full of weight
there was reason to doubt, that the sleigh would fly straight
So, by the light of the moon ... with a chill in the air
It seemed, Santa would fly ... on a wing and a prayer

As the elves pushed the sleigh, from its bay in the shop
a strange noise was heard... a loud kind of "pop"
Then a "crack" and a "snap" ... when off fell a ski
the sleigh, was now broke...quite clearly to see

No time for repairs, no spare skis to be found
A new sleigh, would be needed ... to get off the ground
Whatever could Santa, now use in its place...
to deliver the presents, the kids would embrace?

He pondered and paced, for a moment or two...
not really sure of just what to do
Then all of a sudden, he noticed a glow...
a reddish light cast, on the fresh fallen snow

It was Rudolph's red nose, it was starting to shine...
and Santa knew this was a very good sign!
Perhaps his lead reindeer, knew of a way...
to deliver the gifts, before Christmas Day?

"Rudolph," he sighed...your nose is bright red...
and its pointing this way, toward my old toyshop shed
I know what you're thinking, my dear reindeer friend...
but, I'm afraid that this Christmas ... we just can't ascend

"That old car parked in there, is an old Mustang II...
and I'm really not certain, as a sleigh it would do"
"Its been sitting in there, for a very long time...
under a tarp, all covered with grime"

"Its drivetrain is shot, and its steering gear stripped...
the windshield's cracked, and the seats are all ripped"
"But, perhaps without wheels, it might fly and steer right...
if you'll guide me carefully, this Christmas Eve night"

"Now, there's no time to question, no doubt about that...
help hook up the team, while I get my hat!"

The elves pushed the 'stang, out into the snow...
then filled up the hatch, till the back end drooped low
The reindeer were hitched, with Rudolph the lead...
ready to fly, at a very great speed

Then Santa jumped in, and grabbed hold of the wheel
in the old Mustang II, made of recycled steel
Skyward they flew, as the II held on course
in the cute little sleigh, named after a horse

Well, the toys were delivered ... and in record time
So that is the end ... of this Mustang II rhyme!

Is that account based on a true story  :D

Only Santa's hairdresser, knows for sure..... :D

By the way...I was in a hurry to end it, as it was late and I thought I heard something "up on the rooftop." I thought later, a better ending might be this:

So, the toys were delivered, for that next Christmas Day
With style and speed, in Santa's Mustang II Sleigh!

Ha That was funny :rlaugh:

Good thing it flew cause my II gets awful traction in deep snow, even with the winter rubber. Actually that reminds me that we just got a pile of snow and I'm worried about getting it out of the nice sandwich I paralel parked into...

But that was really good.
