A couple minor things that are holding me back...

I just swapped out my old 3-speed manual for my new 4-speed manual... BUT

1)I bought the lower dust boot to keep dust from coming inside but since I installed a Hurst Competition Plus shifter, the damn thing doesn't fit right and won't pull up high enough to reach the hole in the tunnel. So basically I'm thinking, leave it on there to help keep the shifter clean but there's no way it's going to bolt up, especially since Hurst doesn't even make one for their shifter apparently..

2)The 3-speed has the Transmission Mount Insulator piece still on it:

but it's bolted on through the two holes in the center. My new 4-speed has a molded in piece on the tailshafter that places the bolt holes on the outside. So basically now I need to bolt it in with the outer holes and not the inner holes.... BUT... I can't find any bolt kits through the mustang parts companies for it! If I unbolt the 2 screws holding it in the 3-speed, I'll need some big-@$$ nuts to hold it in the new spots... make any sense?

3)Lastly, the speedometer cable doesn't reach far enough for my 4-speed. Argh! But the parts places only show 1 cable for all manual transmissions.... what the hell?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated,
-Tim

Welcome to Toploader 3 to 4 speed swaps 101 :D The factory lower dust boot never has worked with Hurst shifters-- never has, probably never will. There is a trans mount that has both the horizontal and vertical bolt pattern to work with both transmissions and C-4's to boot. Hope your speedo still works. All that's necessary is to re-route the cable and sometimes a gear swap on the cable.
