a couple of new gt questions

im trading my 02 gt for a new 08 gt cs, white or vista blue not sure yet. anyway what is "iup?" and what exactly is being refered to as "axle backs" and last first thing i need is exhaust, any suggustions?

IUP = interior upgrade package. I HIGHLY recommend this. My car has it, but I've driven some without it and it just feels like a completely different car inside. It adds a leather wrapped steering wheel, many satin-aluminum accents, MUSTANG sill plates, nice door inserts, message center, and perhaps the coolest feature - the MyColor which lets you change the color of the gauges to any one of 125 different colors. You also automatically get the premier trim w/color accent package with it which allows you to get red or white seats (dunno if you can get these with the C/S), more satin aluminum, aluminum pedal covers, and a really nice leather stiched dash cover and upgraded door arm rests.

Instead of buying cat-backs like on the SN95s, they make axle backs. The mufflers are between the exhaust tip and rear axle, so there is much less of a reason to purchase catback systems. The few catback systems out there for the S197s are really expensive. You won't really get any power out of a muffler system on these cars like you did on the SN95s. Check out some of the posts here - the exhaust set up has been beaten to death, so just do a quick search and you'll find plenty of opinion posts.

I wouldn't give you a dime for Mycolor but you want the rest of the IUP package. (You'll have to get Mycolor because it's part of it but I see it as no big deal at all. My opinion.)
I also have the premier trim package and love it. You cannot get it as part of the California special. The California special has its own unique interior which looks great.

I'm not crazy about the 'My Color' thing either, but the rest of the package is worth it IMO.

Since it's included, I love the MyColor It now matches the Vista exterior
Ford did a wonderful job as far as making a very good flowing setup. The sound is better considering it's stock, but still too quiet. You can try going an O/R H or X pipe to wake it up(cheaper as well). You will not be picking up any power(nothing to write home about)from the muffler swap, but you will from the mid pipe swap.

I believe the comment about not getting the premier trim package without the IUP is correct. The premier trim package adds leather (probably actually vinyl) covers on the door handles too.
It's a great package. You also would like the comfort package with comes with power passenger seat and both front heated seats. A compass in the mirror is also part of it. I wish Ford had added the outside temperature also.

You are right - you dont automatically get the premier trip package with the IUP. I got confused.

I love the my color feature, but the blue is the coolest color for night driving or in daytime if you drive with the lights on. Easy on the eyes.

I love the MYcolor too! I usually keep my dash lights set on purple. Perfect relaxing color that compliments Tungsten Grey paint and black leather.

I tried the purple on the 05 redfire, but with the red & black interior it didn't quite work...and purple is one of my favorite colors. The interior on my new 07 is also black with the red seats so I'll probably stay with the blue for now. Guess that make my car red, white and blue..........

IUP: definitely! Mycolor is a blast too -- sometimes deep blue feels good, sometimes purple ... green ... turquoise --- you can have whatever you want, whenever you want it. If you like looking at colors, Mycolor will be your favorite feature; if you're not into color, then you'll have no use for Mycolor.

You need to get the IUP to get a full set of gauges as it includes voltage and oil gauges.

Well its to late for the iup. Im now the proud new owner of an 08 gtcs performance white! i love it! huge upgrade from my 02 gt...although she will b missed...i love the two tone leather tho and the rest of the interior is awesome! ford actually did a good job this time. what it does need tho is side window scoops, a gt500 spoiler, and maybe a tail light black out panel. i think exhuast wise im goin with frpp. also steeda claims 26hp and 22ft lbs out of their cai, can anyone vouch for this?

Nice choices. The Steeda CAI I believe requires a retune, but yes those #s sound right. Most of the tune/CAI packages are within a few HP/TQ of each other. Just a matter of personal preference really.
