I am in the process of rebuilding my 88 LX HB. The motor is done and only needs to be assembled. Its a speed density car that I have owned since it was new. Had 197,201 miles on the original engine.
I can't decide on which motor mounts to get, the Prothane or Energy Suspensions. I have been thru 3 sets of Ford mounts so far, so I don't want OEMs. Will either one of these kits raise the engine height?
Should I keep the stock headers on until the engine is broken in and then put on my ceramic shorites?
How much will my 5th gear RPM's increase by swapping out the 2.73's for 3.73's?
I would appreciate some input, thanks.

First: I would recommend the Ford Convertible Mounts over either of your choices. You should not have any trouble with them breaking.

Second:For headers, What heads are on the engine? If they are stock unported then the stock headers will make more power than the ceramic shorties. If they are ported or aftermarket then go with the ceramics right off the bat.

Third: Use this Calculator to help you determine RPM.

Thanks for the info on the mounts. I'll look in to the cv ones. I already have the BBK unequal shorties, so the stock ones won't go back on. The heads were rebuilt and will have FRPP 1.6 rollers. I was wondering if the ceramic headers will become damaged by using them on a freshly rebuilt engine. My driving style over the years affected the motor mount longevity more than anything else. The car was basically stock and somewhat of a factory freak. I guess 3 sets of motor mounts over 17 years is not unrealistic. So can I expect the CV mounts to last longer than a poly set?

The ceramic headers will be fine on your freshly rebuilt engine.

The CV mounts should last just as long as the poly ones, just give a better ride and cost less.

I Gotcha about the engine mounts. I thought you had gone through 3 sets recently, which seemed strange. :)

Kev's advice is very sound (as said, the vert mounts are captured and a nice upgrade).

Good luck.
