Well Charlie (onebad95) came down saturday to shoot the primer in my engine bay. Came out good, a BIG thanks to him for all the help he has given me with this car so far.

Hoping to paint the bay the week after next. I think im going to go with black. Keep it simple.

Once the bay is painted, it will be a mad rush to get everything together and get this car running.. Look for more updates in the near future

No problem buddy, your always there for me and the car. Can only hope to put a dent in the favor bill you have written up for me. I know you keep it right next to your Yankee hat.

On a serious note, don't go black.

yeah, black looks awesome when clean, but it shows every imperfection, and it looks terrible when dirty. way too much work imo

if i ever scrape up enough $$$ to paint mine, i'm thinking about a beautiful deep metallic blue

or even something like this color (my old 01 GT, RIP)

Well this car is a toy basically, so its not like ill be driving it to work everyday or anything and worry about it getting dirty/keeping it clean.

SO you guys that hate black, give me a better color? (besides dsg, im not sure that i love the color)

I like Sonic blue ALOT too, but i really need to a see a 94-98 with the color.. Anyone have any pics? Yellow is out as well as most bright colors cause with my last yellow car the cop harassment was crazy... Yet with the sonic blue 03 i never had an issue but drove just the same.

let me clarify myself .... i love black, it is just that it is so much work for someone like me who uses it as a daily driver.

my 01 (pictured above) was "true blue" and had a metallic quality to it that i loved. i'd like to see a sn95 with that, but i'm confident it would look great

Yea that makes sense. With a DD i can imagine it being a major PITA. My situation will be a little different. And when i have a nice paint job i really enjoy waxing and cleaning the car. The sonic blue paint on my 03 was almost as bad as black for showing every little swirl mark and spec of dust so i do know a little bit of what it takes to keep black clean.

Id like to go all black with some type of ghost flame in the front ( i know i know very original right ). Ive always loved that look though.

depending on if i get a saleen body kit or not, i want to repaint black with ghost saleen stipes.

i like ghost stuff, as long as its kept classy--no big cartoon snakes, or naked lady silohettes

You can't paint it black. If you do, and we go to Epping together, I will be referred to as the slow black one, and you will be the fast black one, and my car is sorry enough as it is. My ego can only handle so much.

I've always loved the opal frost color... very understated but definately catches the eye in a double take kind of way.

You really can't go wrong with black though.

There is a picture of a Sonic Blue Cobra running around. It looks awesome. Picture is of the car coming out of a tunnel with the RR hood.

Maybe my car has a bad batch of opal.. I know it was rtepainted at some point, maybe they used the wrong paint.. In darker lights the car looks a nice silver, but in the sun and bright lights it looks almost a light blue. Personally i hate it, i probably hate the "light blue" look more then any paint ive ever seen, well not more then lime green (sorry mystery) and pink .

Is this how your guys opals look too? light blue in sunlight? If so i really dont see how anyone can say they honestly like it..

But it is very possible its not the true ford opal frost color

Anyways anyone have a link to the sonic blue car?

I think anything in the dark to light silver range would look great, hide flaws to a degree. and be reasonably easy to maintain.

I can't say that mine has looked "blue" in the sunlight....it kind of looks wicked when wet............or at night.....When I first bought it I wasn't really into "silver" cars but it was in great shape with low mileage........I have grown quite fond of the Opal now.......I actually would like to buy another when I get the chance.......but I'm just messin' with you......glad to see what your doing with the car.....looks like a lot of work but you will know what is in the baby from the ground up........nice work and keep us updated once you throw that motor in....
