What's goin on? I am new to the forums and what not. I have myself a modest lil 2002 3.8L in Zinc Yellow. I am looking to put a lil work in it and get the **** crankin up a bit. I know I will be limited with it only being a V6, but I know of some people that are pushin 10's with their 6's so I know there is potential.

I am also lookin to meet fellow Mustang owners, talk shop, and pick up knowledge. I don't have too much mechanical inclination, but I pick up on stuff pretty fast. I am more of an electronics/computer kind of guy. I live in Beaverton, OR and am lookin around for good shops in terms of under the hood, tuning, paint, audio, and tint.

Any places you guys can recommend in the area would be awesome :)

Welcome tehnick,

I am sure Ed would like to see your car being the color is his favorite. We meet at the Beaverton Starbucks on Friday and Saturday nights quite often, so perhaps you can roll out sometime in the near future and say what up.

Rock on. I work graveyard on those nights with mid-week off, but I have my lunch break around 1am and usually go there at night to relax for a little bit before I go back to work. I am sure I will probably run into some of you there if you hang around that late.

Thanks for the welcome :)

hey nick, welcome. I'd suggest doing wheels/tires/springs first. just so it looks better, them 16's really undermine the shape of the car. maybe a set of gears down the road?

I was actually probably going to score some 17x9 black bullitts here really soon as the first step. I can get a pair of flow 40's for really cheap and work on exhaust after that, but I do want to work on teh suspension for sure. I would go bigger on wheel diameter, but I want to try and keep as much tread as possible. I don't really know if my car will ever be at the strip. I just want to concentrate on getting it lookin good, then checking into performance options and upgrades.

So far, I just put on some sequentials. Love the retro look, and it gets some looks now and then :)

For the simple things, you can get some info here....but if you are looking for something more serious and in depth you better go to www.3.8mustang.com or www.v6power.net

I can help you out a good bit, because I came from a V6 and I know the ups and downs, along with some others that have had a V6 in the past. If you have a manual I would advise you to get a short throw shifter as one of your first mods....if it's an auto then do something else.

yeah that's cool man. I'll tell ya something though, bigger wheels (diameter/width) will not affect tread depth of a new tire. for example, a 205/40/17 tire (honda's usually) will come new with about 8/32's tread depth. about a quarter inch. whereas a 275/40/18 tire will come with 8/32's tread depth as well. moreover, different tire models and companies will sometimes have even more tread. so don't worry about that. worry about tread pattern and rubber compounds.

Welcome Nick as I am a very new person myself. Yes there are cars with 6 cylinders running 10's but the amount of money it takes to get there with weight reduction, really is not worth putting it into the car unless you are one of those guys that likes to spend thousands and thousands of dollars to say you have a 10 second 6 cylinder car.

Depending on what you goal is and how much money you want to spend, your best bet is to sell the V6 and buy a V8 car, unless your happy with making a nice looking simi-fast 6 cylinder car.

I have had [urlhttp://www.krazykoncepts.com]krazykoncepts[/url]do all the work on my car and can't say enough good things about them as they really have a grasp on what works and what's the best bang for you buck and would send anyone there.

Welcome!
