A question about our 2 cats

In my mind if you got a ton of miles on a stock cat, it's time for it to go :D Now my muffler shop said it was legal for me to leave the pre cat off which is almost attached to your exhaust manifold. I would check with your shop/laws if you can or can't run without it. This probaly gave me .5HP more and lost about .5lbs of dead weight. If you go to replace the cat, you can usualy buy new Catco Cats on ebay cheaper than a muffler shop will charge you. The same goes for your muffler(s) or try Jegs web site also.

I had the "precat" too. I went to the muffler shop and ask the guy remove it but he said he will just clear it out, beucase i told him i think it was clogged. So he cleared it out and i noticed a big difference for a good 50 miles then my car started doing the same thing again.(when i hit the gas the engine hesitates to kick in, and horrible gas milage) so i dont know what else to do. I scanned for codes and the only one i got said something about the Egr valve.

the engine is fine without cats, unless your local tree huggers tell you differntly.
I prefer the term Earth Muffin, cant stand those damn patchouly wearing smell bad berkenstock wearing tofu munchers :damnit: ....... The ironic part is my rommates Merkur xr has passed Washington Emissions with nothing but 3" exhuast and a dynomax muffler.
