Well, some of you may know that last year I sold my orange car, but what you may not know is that I picked up another car to work on. Without getting into long details, it's an 87 Coupe -- no options on the car except for the A/C, AOD, and radio -- not even tilt steering (first I had seen). Anyway, the auto wasn't really what I was looking for, but knowing I'll be changign the tranny at some point anyway, it was ok by me for now. Whether I stick with the auto or go to a manual will depend on how it feels when I start testing.

Anyway, I've been putting alot of time into this car, with the intention of getting into class racing, but also without going overkill. With that in mind -- and because I want to keep you in suspense a little more -- I'll provide a picture of some of what I've done and give you SOME details. :)

In this picture you will see part of the underneath of the rear of the car. The rearend guts are a Strange Spool, Strange 33 Spline Axles - pocket milled on the axle flanges, Strange C-Clip eliminators, and Motorsport 4.30 gears. The axle tubes have been welded to the center section. The cover is a Strange girdle. Upper and lower control arms are UPR pieces, all adjustable with solid bushings except for the axle end of the lower - which is a poly bushing -- the lower retains my factory sway bar. The torque boxes have been reinforced with "battle-box" style plates, both upper and lower, bolted in -- extra bolted in, and then welded in. The torque boxes, upper and lower, have themselves also been welded - along with most of the seams in the rear around them. The springs are factory V8 springs, with poly isolators top and bottom. The shocks are Strange adjustables. The driveshaft is an aluminum Motorsport. The wheels and tires are M/T ET Streets (26x11.50-15) on 15x10 Welds.

Well, that was more than just some of the details...but I've never been one for secrets. So I'll keep updated with future progress and plans as I accomplish them.

Adam, sounds like things are starting to come together for you.... If you don't have the axle brace, get one....it looks like the LPW brace would work with your Strange cover since it has the extra holes, I bet they make it for Strange ;)

I've had a hard time not posting pics of my car lately, so many things have changed but I keep it sealed up tight...maybe in a few weeks after certification I'll post pic of my 25.5 chassis.

Class racing is a huge change, when you are trying to find all the grey areas to make improvements and go faster. For the motor definitly work with someone who has expierence with that class, it will get you much better results the first time. If you are going F/S like I thought you were, check out FTI he did the motor for Bob Cosby's old black coupe that Todd "Stangfireman" Savidge now pilots.

Thanks guys...I've met and talked with Ed a couple times (even though he doesn't really know me), and I'm pretty confident he could do exactly what I want when the time comes.

The cover I got through Strange, but it also says LPW on the bottom, so I guess that would work if I got that.

For right now I'm just trying to get everything to the point I can drive it -- I only ever drove this car once (did I mention that?)! I drove it to make sure everything worked, then promptly parked it and started taking it apart. I think maybe tomorrow I'll go for a spin -- then the subframe connectors will be going in -- but maybe I should keep some other stuff to myself a little bit longer. :)
