A smog delete question.

I bought my car with the smog deleted on it aleady. However, it still has that black box looking thing on the passenger side frame rail by where the smog pump used to be.

Can someone tell me what that part is and it's function. Also, whether I need it! Thanks.

Its the Smog Canister or Vapor Canister, it contains vapors of gas from the gas tank, when you shut off the car. Instead of the vapors going out into the air, its stored in this canister, you do not need it. I was afraid of getting a check engine light when i disconnected the electrical plug, but all was good.

Mines is gone too. I have the vapor line running towards the headlights.
