howdy folks, i have a 66 mustang with an 84 model 351 windsor and i have already built a 74 model C4 transmission. My question is which flywheel i need to use. It is the small bellhousing C4 with the 10.5 inch bolt pattern. So the guy at PTC torque converters said i need a 157 tooth flywheel. After hearing that i went and bought a flywheel for a 75 ford granada with a 302 and it is a 157 tooth flywheel. i know everything will fit but is the balance the same as far as 28 oz and 50 oz? I still don't completely under stand the years between the 28oz and the 50 oz balancers, flywheels, internal, external balancing on the engine its self. help is appreciated because i don't want to install this thing and and it not be right the first time. thanks Jimmie

The 351 has always been the 28 ounce imbalance just like the early 289/302s so you are fine and have all the stuff you need.

really? You mean I didn't need to buy a new flexplate? Oh well I'm not using it anymore. I switched to a manuel tranny.

I thought some late model 351s (5.8L) motors had the 50oz setup, oh well. As long ass you stick with the 28oz on your reciprocating asembly and the C4 you'll be fine. I needed a swap part for my AOD though.

The 5.8 liter (351) has never been 50 oz imbalance at any time so most people upgrading from an early 289/302 have a lot of the parts they need already.
