Hey all, I am trying to figure out what the difference is between an emissions legal head like the AFR 185, and one that isn't, like the 205 or 225. Can anybody enlighten me? I was looking at the pictures of BlackVert's 205's and they don't look any different than my 185's. Thanks.

I think its the holes in the back of the heads for the air injection pipe.

Aryan15 is correct. the emissions legal heads have the holes for the smog tube and the non emissions heads do not. that is the only difference.

do you need a carb number? If you dont, then dont worry about "emmissions legal heads"

My p heads dont have tha air tube in the back, and i disconnected my egr totally, and my car passed fine....

I just put the smog pump tube right to the cats so they get air all the time. none of that air valves, ect down the pass side header.

I also passed with a cam, and 42lb injectors, etc. The cam is what has the most effect on actual emmissions....the intake and heads dont

why would you want to? for that just buy the emissions legal heads (unless the heads are bigger than afr 185's)?
