OK, get this: last week I called the Ford dealership to see how much they would charge me to install my 3.73's. They quoted me at $250 for the installation, which sounded good to me, so I took the car up there Monday morning. It's now 3:30pm Tuesday afternoon and they just called to tell me that they won't have it done today. :notnice:
Supposedly, they started working on it yesterday, but then they called at about 3:00pm to tell me that they couldn't get the ABS sensors loose, that they were "froze up". They told me they'd let it soak in penetrating oil overnight.
Now they called to tell me that they got one of the sensors loose, but that the other one is still "froze up tight under there, and it just WILL NOT come loose". And that's the excuse they're giving me for not having the gear installation done yet. :nonono: Does that sound like an unreasonable excuse to anyone else?

they are trying to save you money by not breaking it off. the guy that did mine asked if he could break it off cause it would take forever to work it out and it still would probably break. it could be your choice but you might be able to tell them to break it out and you can pick ones up online for around $50ish or you can let them work their "magic" and hopefully they can get it out without breaking it. you will have to buy a new one if they break it either way tho.

and doesnt penetrating fluid only take about 15 min for a full effect?? i dont think letting it sit overnight would be any better unless they were putting it on there every 15 min for most of the tnight

He's right...they were trying to save you a buck...i have broken them before...when they're stuck...they're stuck....you pretty much have to waste em....
You dont EVEN want them guys to give you a price on those relucters...$$$$ from Ford...you can find em on Ebay and salvage yards....

Yup...perfectly normal reason.

Broke both of mine when I had my gears put in because they were absolutely frozen in there with what seemed like weld/cement/hands of god. There was no way they were coming out even with all the WD40/PB Blaster etc...in the world.

Just suck it up...its the price you have to pay for doing mods :) I drove around for 8 months with my ABS light on as a result.

I've had them break too... I think my sensor was $75. OUCH!

I too drove around for MONTHS with the ABS light on until I finally sprung for the sensor.

TIP: when re-installing them, take a sanding roll to the hole and put a little dab of grease on the sensor so it is less likely to seize up next time.
