Both my left and right front ABS sensors have been destoyed by my 265/40s on 18x9.5s. The ford rep said that the tech could bend the ABS bracket as a teporary fix, but that I should go no bigger than a 245 up front. Has anyone experienced this before. I trust the rep, and I'm wondering do I need to go with a 18x9 up front instead of the 18x9.5s. My friend ran the same wheels with 275/35s front and rear with no problem on his GT, maybe the bigger cobra brakes have something to do with it. Any advice would be much appriciated. Thanks.

00 Cobra R's came stock with those wheels and tires...and 03/04 Cobra's came stock with 275/40 rubber...

Besides, the exciter ring, ABS sensor and bracket are all behind the brake disc in the center of the hub, far away from the wheel spokes and tire, so I don't see how the wheels would even come close to bending any of that...

I think that Ford tech is full of it...got any pictures of what happened to them?

I'll get the car back in a few hours so I can take a look at it. I'll try to get some pics. Would the fact that I have MM coilovers change anything? I wouldn't think so but who knows. I remember messing with the ABS sensors when I installed the coil overs, maybe I put them back on incorrectly, if that is even possible. Well, I'll se in a little bit. Thanks for the replys.

It is possible that you didn't have the ABS sensor wiring properly routed and it got binded up on something which could have pulled and bent the ABS sensor bracket that's on the A-arm, but that'd even take a lot of pulling to bend that...

I just don't see the wheels being the culprit...

I got the car back and the tech said he was able to bend the bracket out of the way so it will not get hit by the tires. He said it should be fine now. Next time I rotate the tires I'll be sure to check it out, because I'm still not sure what happend down there, but at least the problem seems fixed for now. Thanks for the help.
