Hi everyone,

I'm looking at a 94 Mustang V6 as a possible purchase for my soon to be new driver son. (I'm happy that he is interested in Mustangs as my first car back in 1971 was a 69 Mustang coupe!) But, I degress. I have found a 94 Mustang coupe that the owner says the AC blows out the defrost vents "until cold". "AC is strong and ice cold". I don't know if that means that it then switches to the AC vents or what but, wondering what experiences anyone has had with this sort of thing and what it would take to sort it out. Also, what year did Ford change over to 134a refridgerant?

Not sure if this is an automatic or standard but he says that the transmission "slips a little bit and has a small leak".

What issues are there with the 94 v6's that I should be aware of? Of course this may all boil down to what kind of hit my insurance will take with a Mustang. I know it's gonna hurt anyway because he is a 16 YO male driver but.....

BTW, price on this car is $2500 obo. Don't know the mileage yet and have not seen the car in person but I'm a pretty good shadetree mechanic and can handle a few things myself while at the same time teaching my son some things as well. Hoping to get some more info on it and see/drive it in person.

Thanks!

Mark

I believe gasket leaks were a problem with this year of car. On the plus side they are already pre-wired for foglights if the car doesn't already have em.

When the AC just blows out the defrost vents, then you have a vacumm hose issue. Its easily fixable as really only requires replacing the tube that is leaking. I am not 100% where your tube is on your vehicle, but run a search on stangnet and you should find a solution. I found my leaky tube on my old 96 at the back of the engine above the firewall running from left side of the engine to the vacumm tree on the right side of the engine. Tube should only run you about $2 at autozone.
