AC Problem

alright. so a couple weeks ago, i replaced the heater core on my '96 gt. the heat works awesome now... but now i have another problem. i decided to try the AC, that used to work before the replacement of the heater core, but all it does is spit out heat. no AC whatsoever. even with the knob all the way on cold, it spits out the same amount of hot air as on the hottest setting. so does anyone know what the problem could be, or should i just go to the dealership? thanks.

and i wont need the AC until spring so i can go that long.. but is it looking like an expensive dealership fix?

Well it could be a number of things.. the temp adjustment knob/dial could be broken, and not actually changing the temp. That would be the first thing to check.

Secondly, when you turn it to A/C, do you hear the compressor kick on? If not, you may not have any refrigerant in the system, or you may have a faulty compressor, a blown fuse, or disconnected wire somewhere.

It could also be a broken blend door in the HVAC box.
