I'm about to swap from points to an Accel XRi setup. As usual my stuff has a twist or two. My 302 has an Edelbrock coil which has a white plastic connector that attaches the wires to the coil. Also, there is currently only one wire coming from distributor. It is spliced into another wire running to the terminal on the coil that is unmarked. The other terminal on the coil is marked BATT. If I keep this coil, which wire will go to the BATT side? The car runs fine so I don't really want to replace coil but should I?

Thanks for any help.

the power wire goes to the batt side of the coil. as for replacing the coil, you dont need to, but to get the best performance from your new ignition, i would go with the blaster lll coil.

Thanks for the info. In the instructions it also states that I need 3-4 ohms resistance in my coil. My current one has only 1.5. If I change to a blaster III will that work without adding any external resistor?

if the blaster lll comes with a ballast resistor, then you need to install it. mine did come with a ballast resistor. its easy enough to wire in though.
