Yes, which is exactly why the strip is not a good dyno. Too many other variables come into play. You can run consistant numbers one day, make a modification, then go back and run a few tenths faster...but that faster time could be attributed to track temp, air quality, ect ect.

Didnt one of the stang mags recently do some basic bolt on to a completely stock 91 GT?

I think they found that Pullies picked up ~8hp to the wheels.

You go to a track and they correct for altitude,air density and temperature on your ET slip? Sure thing. I put way more credence into track numbers then dyno hands down.Nobody adjusts dials for a different outcome at the track.

I've gotta disagree....the track brings with it too many variables like human error, track condition, weather....you name it. The dyno is used to measure hp because it eliminates these things.

A guy might do a few bolt ons and pick up 35hp but run slower at the track because of wheel spin because he can't hook or maybe he's not a good driver. The same guy with the same car would show those improvements on a dyno because it eliminates the variables.

I'm just talking from my experiance.My last full on drag car was dead on consistant and any change in weather I could be within a couple of hundreths on the ET change so doing a mod could show me gain or loss.I'm not John force either.

Yeah i'm not saying an ET isn't going to show gains, i'm just saying as a way of measuring exactly what gain you've got it's not very practical.
