My 91 is in need of a good resto, so I'm trying to figure out what things I want to change and what I want to keep. Was wondering how difficult it would be to swap a tilt steering column/wheel from a 94-95 car into my Gt? I could use one from an 87-88, but I want to keep the airbag.Any body done this swap before?

From what I understand the Airbags were in the way... which is the reason they didn't have tilt.

Which would mean an airbag delete maybe??? I dunno
I'm with Strype on this one. The tilt option wasn't compatible with airbags. It is too easy to end up with the airbag aimed at your face where it does damage and lets your torso bang against the steering wheel. Ouch!

Yeah, I know thats why they went away from it in 89, but 94 and up came equiped with air bags and tilt steering, so it would really just be a mod. I have seen pics of foxes with complete SN95 interiors, including the column, but no one has the details on how that part was done.

try it and hook the air bag up to a hot wire. put a dummy in the front seat and see if it takes his face off.I still say that an airbag wired to an ignition relay is the best anti theft system there could be.

::would be burglar breaks into stang and turns key then
BAM!! 2nd degree burns and a face full of nylon. ::
I would pay to see that.

Just call me anal about wanting to keep the bag for extra safety.Trust me, I dont like driving with the wheel high enough that the bag would hit me in the face anyway.Actually, I want the be able to lower the wheel while I'm cruising on a long drive so I can lean the seat back a little and still reach the top of the wheel. I switch up hands positions alot while im driving cause my arms get tired kind of fast. If anything, with the wheel where I like it, the bag would knock the wind out of me.
