Adjustable Clutch Quadrants???

I have had a firewall adjuster for about a year and I still do not know how or what it does really. I want it so the clutch engages right off the floor, and it seems that turning it clockwise does that for me. Apparently it was too tight at first, a shop told me that, and that is when I started to turn it clockwise to loosen it. But I have to keep adjusting it about once a week to keep it to engage where I like. Is this bad. any help on these things is appreciated. I have a centerforce df clutch as well. I don't wana prematurely wear it out or damage my tranny. thanks

Mine doesn't come out of adjustment as yours does? Maybe put on a little lock tight to keep it from coming loose. If you do have it adjusted wrong you can cause the throw out bearing to go bad prematurely. If you take of the small plate on the tranny you can check to see that the TOB is off the clutch disk when not engauged.
 
Oh boy, ok well heres the thing for the past 2 months, my tob is messed up because it chirps and makes noises while the pedal is not pushed down. You see apparently I had the calbe too tight I think, and maybe that caused it. My clutch still works fine now, but I am constantly turning it clockwise. Is it bad to have a bad tob, I mean can I just replace the tob or no? I just paid big bucks for this clutch not too long ago so Id like to get at least till next summer out it but if it needs to go to prevent damage then so be it. I just didnt wana keep adjusting it if I didnt know what it was doing. thanks anymore tips?

Bummer on the TOB going bad. You can just replaced the TOB, but unfortunately you are going to have to take the tranny out again which is fairly expensive. My understanding is that if you let the TOB go for too long you can trash the input shaft which opens up a new bag of worms. When it is out make sure the input shaft is ok and order DandD's 'heavy duty' TOB.
 
Do you know what the input shaft does? What is it responsible for? My tob has been gone bad since this past summer, do you think if I replace the clutch and tob this summer, a year from then, would I be ok? I just couldnt afford it now and I think one would mine as well replace the clutch while your down there :shrug:
