i am putting the engine back together and am adjusting the rockers. i know the lifters need to prime up w/ oil and then sit for a while or something like that. Well, my engine is completely drained of oil. Can i still use the same procedure to adjust the lifters? Open the exhaust valve, wiggle pushrod and turn bolt until there is no more slack, turn the bolt another 1/2 turn, then tighten the allen machine screw and be all set?

For stud mount that should be ok - lifter on the base circle, tighten til you just hit zero lash, then another 1/2 turn and hit it with set screw/lock.

Doesn't matter if the lifters are full of oil or not -- there's a spring inside them that holds the plunger up when no oil is present.

When I adjusted mine I just used a pair of my old lifters and put a tack weld so the plunger doesn't go down.
