hey guys, I've been planning my setup for a while and I think i've finally figured it out, tell me wut ya think, n if u have any suggestions.

331 (Should I buy a stroker kit n use the stock block or buy a new block?)

afr 185's (port work if nessecary)

GT 40 intake, ported, or SystemaxII/Trickflow R if nessecary)

Custom Cam, probably from Ed Curtis seeing how i've heard a lot of good bout him.

1 5/8 Longtubes

2 1/2 Off Road H pipe

2 1/2 Mac flowpath mufflers

75 mm TB

Mac cold air intake

There's a chance I could get a supercharger in the future (which is why I want to make sure that the block will be able to handle all the power) that wouldn't be for a while though, and I'm not planning on going too crazy on the boost.

Think I could make high 300's maybe even break into the 400's with this combo?

Combo sounds good to me.. But I recomend getting a different block other then a ford block, specially if you plan on putting any boost through it.. spend the money and get a dart block, i know people that have cracked sportsman blocks with 18lbs of boost on them..

As for your numbers there that your guessing, are you saying you'll get those with or without a supercharger?? cuz if you have a blower on that combo engine and you get it tuned you could be well into 500rwhp without a problem

I would probably go with the 1 3/4 long tubes, pro chambers, and 3" cat back system from MAC. I am getting ready to get that on my Winsor. And do not, I repeat do not get the C&L MAF or BBK 75mm TB. I have them and they suck big time, I am also working on the AFR 205's

Ho93lx, I'm hoping to get those numbers n/a. And as for the boost I wasn't planning on going near 18 lbs. I was thinking something more in the single digits. This is more of a show car/daily driver with a trip to the track every once in a while. (until I can get a track stang built) Do you still think I should get a new block though?

Powershift, As of right now I have a set of 2 1/2 stainless steel flowpath mufflers from mac and custom tail pipes. Do you really think I need to step it up to 3" and 1 3/4" long tubes? I was planning on getting the exhaust cut out from jeggs and using that to improve the top end while. http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=102162&prmenbr=361. I noticed it says you're getting Mac long tubes, if you're stepping up from 1 5/8 to 1 3/4 i'm interested in buying your old long tubes, and have you ever had any fitment problems with them? I've heard a lot of people complain. And just so you know, I was planning on going with an accufab tb and a Pro M maf.

Do you guys think I could hit these numbers with a ported Gt 40? or do you think I should use one of the other intakes? Like the Systemax.

What size injectors should I use?

And do you guys think my setup would give me a lot of problems as a daily driver?

You could probably hit those numbers w/ a GT40, I've seen some sick combo's making insane power w/ GT40's (heads/intake)...but you've got a similar combo to what I want to build. I plan on using the Holley intake w/ the AFR 185's...blown you'll see 500+hp easy.

I actually have equals right now, not long tubes, and I plan on doing the k-member at the same time, so I shouldnt have any fitment problems. The 3" back and the 1 3/4 give you plenty of flow for your 331, not to mention a ton of room for improvment when you decide to supercharge it.

What bout naturally aspirated thou?

In N/A, id guesstimate mid 300#s, somewhere in that area. If you plan on single digit boost numbers, a new block wouldn’t be worth it. Go with 42lbs when using boost, and 36ers in N/A. The gt-40 will be fine with with either setup.

do you think i would be better off using one of the other intakes though? I've heard that the systemaxII flows really well with the afrs, better than the GT40 and I was just wondering if the GT40 would be choking my combo any.

Yes the systemmax does flow better, but if your still undecided about the blower, then the gt40 intake isn’t going to be a restraint on a N/A 331. I use the Systemmax on my motor, S-trim 331, and it makes some hell-a-tous power…..But No, you wont be choking it with that intake. But Yes, you will see a slight gain in HP if you did use the Systemmax.

The other thing is, i've heard of some peoples combos making 400+ rwhp, with a different set of heads or port work would I be able to also? Would that make make it less street worthy?
Well if you want to get into that area…Iv seen a N/A 331 with AFR 225s make +500 hp…..and then they added a turbo, and pushed it passed 1000hp. Do u know what im talking about?…it was the 331 turbo buildup in 5.0 magazine sometime last year..Yes you will loose a lot of streetability. If it was me, 331, afr 185s( or 205s), perfomer 2 intake, 42s, a nice custom blower cam…..and about 14psi. down the intake and call it a day.
