have a 95 gt with 90k miles. e303cam , headers, adj. regulator, and jms custom chip.
1st. what would be a good safe nos kit for a newbie? looking at a zex dry.
2nd. speedo is reading about 15 to 20 mph higher than what i am actually going.think previous owner must have put in a gear.how can i find out or can i skip ahead and just buy a 23 tooth white speedo to correct it?
3rd. car wants to die when i shift into reverse or drive when i first crank it up and im on a hill? could it be a weak fuel pump or dirty fuel filter?only time it does it is when im in the driveway which is up a hill and i crank it up and shift into reverse.
thanks for all the help and opinions in advance.

The Zex kit is great and I've used mine safely to good results.

You'll want to pick up and install at least a 190lph fuel pump when you install the kit.

You'll also want plugs at least one heat range colder than stock, and you'll have to gap them smaller as well, again according to the size of the shot you are planning to run.

You will need to follow the kits instructions and reduce your timing according to the shot size your running. This means you will probably have to lose your chip.

Jack the rear of the car up. Spin the rear tire. Note how many rotations the driveshaft makes per each spin of the tire to figure out what gear ratio you have.

It could be. If you want to install a nitrous kit, you should install a high flow fuel pump anyway and replace your fuel filter while your under there.

Check your fuel pressure with a fuel pressure gauge to make sure that it's okay and safe afterwards.

Yup, if I didn't have the chip, my rev limiter would hit at 5,200 - that worrys me even MORE. Rev limiter cutting fuel with the TPS saying I'm at WOT and it just spraying away if the tranny stutters inbetween shifts. :o

I honestly don't know where my rev limiter is, but I've hit it a few times on a 125 shot....yeah, I know, not a great idea. :D

I think the only thing that saved me was that the AODE computer pulls lots of timing at each shift.

Good post that should cover pretty much everything

Does any one else get annoyed when people say “Nos”? I mean its the name of Holley's set up.. It would be the same as calling it Zex. Use a better term and call it Nitrous or something so you don't sound so rice.

the jms chip has two nitrous settings. i think one retards it 1 degree and the other is 3 degrees.will have to find paperworkWhat would u suggest i gap the plugs at.would prefer to run reg unleaded through the week and only run premium on the weekend when im spraying.would that cause any problems? also with the speedo being off by that much then it must be a different gear correct? wont the 23 tooth gear correct it for a 3.55 3.73 or 4.11 rear end.and last is there a possibility that it could be any other reason as to why the car is stalling when shifted on a hill.im not putting the nitrous on right away and would prefer not to replace fuel pump etc. until ive checked any smaller things that it could be first.thanks for all the replies so far.just bought the car last weekend and trying to figure out what all has been upgraded on the car.First owner had a performance shop in north alabama and im guessing if he did a cam change then he probably worked the motor a little.trying to track him down for info.

.035 on the gap. I use the cheapy autolites too. They seem to perform and last just fine.

Definately find the paperwork of call the company about the chip. I think if you call them and give them the S/N they can look up the tune?

There is a speedo gear for each set of gears, I would still figure out which gears were in the car by counting the rotations of the D/S.

On the juice... just start out small and work your way up. :nice:

Good luck!

nos is a name of one of the companies but it also stands for nitrous oxide system. i originally said i was looking for a safe nos kit. which could mean nitrous oxide system kit. and i was leaning toward zex. didnt know it would throw people off by saying nos kit.will try to get with the lingo. lol

I actually noticed that a lot when I was in the states...mostly the south...still odd. I asked for a coke and the waitress asked what kind. wtf?

In her defense, she could have meant Diet, Cherry, Classic, New, Caffine Free, etc. But probably not. :D Most everyone down here calls an adjustable end wrench a "cresent" wrench.... even if there's is a different brand.

Do you say Tissue or Kleenex? :rlaugh:
