Advice on what to build for metals class

This is a very good idea, I was considering doing it. You could also fab up a T5 crossmember, it is not too hard to do, but if you want it to look good you would have to put a little time and effort into it. Would be well worth it though.

I fabbed up a T-5 crossmemeber an it worked well enough to hold it up :D but I have yet to road test. It's pretty easy fabrication, the measurements are the hard part. I also have a modified original crossmember I want to try.

I like all of these ideas, but some of them will take too long to complete in the small amount of class time we have to work on them.

I do need a fan shroud, i don't even have one on right now.

I have never had a fan shroud either, and I have a .060 over 1968 302, which, at that overbore, should create significant overheating problems according to the general consensus. I never had an overheating problem in over 10 years of driving it quite regularly. However, I do agree that an aluminum fan shroud would be cool, and I know I will need the same as my build-up becomes more serious. I think the project suggested would be quite worthy of your efforts.

I made my own T5 crossmember, it serves its purpose well, but it is by no means pretty, I have not worked with metal that much. What I want to do is build one of those slave brackets.

It's not an actual Mustang component, but how about a trunk organizer box with compartments to hold oil, antifreeze, trans. fluid ... , fire extinguisher, jumper cables, spare belts ... Maybe come up with a way to secure it in the trunk so it doesn't slide around. Maybe add handles or a cover (if you have the time).

Oooo, thats a good idea! I could make it to fit in one of the rear corners where it drops off.
