...its probably been posted in one way or another but here goes! I have a flowtech x-pipe (offroad) and flow 2s (old style) on my '99 Gt and due to the drone/LOUDness, I'm considerring getting some flow 3s (50s)..as the extra chamber 'should' help a bit...I'm not expecting a lot - the x will always make noise (nice noise!)..but I'm wonderring with all the talk of a straight thru design matching better with an x-pipe, should I get a '3 chamber' version of a straight thru muffler??...in otherwords, if a straight thru sounds better with the x, should I get a mellower muffler in a whole different configuration??...I don't mind the chamberred sound with the x, but if I can get a straight thru with the quieter credentials (?!), should I go that route...is there even a straight thru that has the comparable sound difference that a flow 2 to a flow 3 will give you??... I know squat about straight thru mufflers so I'm not sure what's available for our car. All advice is much appreciated!! Todd

My last car was an 88 iroc. granted this is single exhaust. I had a borla catback to start with. I liked the sound but I was kind of a flowmaster guy back then. So I swaped it for a force II catback(50 series). I had riden in cars like mine with 40 series and they had horrible drone. After it was all saind an done I prefered the borla setup that I had gotten rid of. The 50 series still had quite a bit of drone.

here is sound clip of the borla setup on my car.

borla+vrs off road

this setup has very minimal drone. in fact with gears it would probably have none. at 2k it does have some though. I think all aftermarket exhaust will have some.

I know some of you will think im crazy , but get the flowtech afterburners , loud as crap when you are on the throttle with half or less drone of a flowmaster , put one on my brothers F150 last week and he gets as many complements on the sound as I do with my full lenght BBks , catted X pipe and flows
