Ok going for new set up on my 88GT, will be staying SD so I ask that we remove that from the equation. That done and said here is what I am considering for end of next month:
Typhoon upper and lower with 65mm TB (presently on car)
Edelbrock performer heads (1.9's I think they are?)
stock specs on long block
Crower cam 11551 (Not exactly sure on number but it is a SD freindly cam)
Mac off road H and LT's with flows out back.
Mac air intake with filter in fender
march underdrive pullies.
Looking for info on HP#s and what timing I should run (thinking 12-13 deg) car seems angry with anything over 10-12* right now with FP at 40#lbs
also fuel system will be stock, I am going to get injectors checked for flow and if good they will drop right back in.

If your going to add that much airflow I think you better plan on doing a maf conversion.. the 15511 will likely give you issues. it's a fairly middle of the pack agressive cam with 218 and 226 duration. it really needs a set of 1.7 roller rockers as the lift with 1.6's is a little short. I would find a used edelbrock performer instead of the typhoon.. I haven't heard anything good about their castings and it's a copy of the rpm, Personally I would stick with the performer with slightly longer runners, or I would get the real edelbrock Performer RPM. Both of which can be bought used for about the same as a new typhoon. With alluminum heads you should be able to get 14-16 degrees of timing and premium fuel. The 19 lb injectors aren't going to cut it IMO nor is the stock 88lph pump. 24's minum with the maf to match and a 190 lph walbro intank. Personally I went right to 30's and had no issues what so ever.. I did have issues with 24's though when I had them for a while. As far as the edlbrock heads go. I've heard the new castings make better power and their quality has always been great, but I still say for the price I would get either afr 165's or Trick flow twisted wedge, but that is a personal preferance. Good luck..

HHHHmmmmm maybe stock cam and 1.7RR to give me the sound and keep vac stable for the computer, I've heard stock injectors are good to 300Hp so I think it should be ok but I appreciate the info. As for the Typhoon intake, I had the Performer RPM and sold it for good $ when I had it off to helicoil the lower (previous owner stripped 4 bolts) the Typhoon is actually a nice peice..casting was clean and Polish job was decent. All in all I like the typhoon and it runs well on my car. But I have heard the cam I listed was good for SD cars.

perhaps the cam will work, I would personally be liery of it on a SD car.. I know some people with maf cars have issues with less agressive cams.. but it is on a 114 LC which should help. I would not run 19 lb injector to 300-345 HP.. they would be well on or over the ragged edge.. with a .5 bsfc and 45 psi of fuel.. they would be running 99-100% duty cycle to cover even 300 hp and you should make that and probably more if it's done right.. You are far better off to be over injected than under.. and they will not support 300 hp under the recommended specs of operation. .5 BSFC (N/A), 40-42psi, 80% duty cylcle. Use this to help with your fuel needs. http://www.rceng.com./technical.htm#WORKSHEET I would stick with 30's and have to much.. it will keep the duty cycle down and everything happy.

good luck with the speed density and everything. My old car that was speed density wasn't too happy when I put an off road pipe and underdrive pulleys onto it. I wonder how upset it would have been if I had a bigger intake and heads lol

My car now has off road exhaust Typhoon upper and lower, underdrive pullies, 65mm TB, K&N and has no problems with the mods so far, so I think I will be alright. Must note however I am seriously considering the idea of Thumper heads over the Edy's...hhmm so many decisions so little time!!

Maybe you already done this but...

I have the Typhoon also and I ported the heck out of it. I have to agree with the person who said thier casting isn't great... it's looks fine from the outside but the runners in the lower need work. The upper isn't real bad but I gave it a once over to knock down some casting flash.

Order the Standard Abrasives porting kit from Summit and go to town on that thing. Gasket match it and smooth out anything that looks rough in the runners, I spent 3 afternoons on mine, it flows just fine now.

I don't think the money saved was worth the time spent porting though.

Honestly it runs just as good as my performer RPM and 70mm TB that I had on it before! Not to mention the polished manifold and TB kick a*s in terms of look compared to my old set up. At 30+ (be nice!!) I'm looking for look MODERATE performance...260-280 at the wheels is plenty for a car that never sees the track. I believe with my present bolt-ons and a set of thumper or EDDy heads I can get my power needs and move on to my next (list is about 2feet long)project to start.
