Aero nose to Four-eyed

I recently aquired yet another fox body (#6 for me) and I'm just taking in all ideas. One idea that seems to keep me up at night is the thought of converting the front end to an 85-86 GT. I've always wanted a four-eyed fox but never really had the opportunity (although "my" first car was driving around my mom's '82 4-cyl 4-speed). The car in question is in my sig.

I suppose my questions are; is this considered bastardization to the '93? Besides the bumper cover, must I change the bumper reinforcement piece? And lastly, are there any fitment issues with the fenders that I have? (Yes, I do realize I need the hood as well, that's so obvious I didn't bring it up)

Any opinions will be appreciated.

It's not only bastardization, it's abomination.

If you want a four eyed Fox, why not just go buy one? Why use up rare four eye parts on an Aero when they could be used on a four eye?

most people on here consider 4 eye to aero conversions bastardization, I'm interested in what they say about this. I personally could care less, it's your car, do what you will. And it's not like it can't be changed back. As far as what needs to be changed, bumper cover and hood aparently, bumper support (there are cutouts in the support bar for the fog lights on 85-86 gt's) and all the body mouldings. Actual fender mounting fitment won't be an issue, bit you might have a problem with mounting the fender extentions as the front wheel openings on 91-93 cars are wider.

I used to be hard-core against it, but eh, its your stuff, do with it as you please. Now if I smashed my front bumper and needed a new one, but it came hard to find parts after you and all your friends started converting all your cars to 4-eyes, I'd be pissed. So I'm somewhat torn on the subject.

To me, it will always be a wannabe 4-eye car, haha. I'd never convert a car, it just seems poser to me. I know its hard to find 4-eye cars, but hey, I found one. It wasn't impossible. There are still decent 4-banger examples that go for cheap these days if you look hard enough.

He'd have to change the connectors for the headlights too.

First, if I did this it would be done right. From the outside a person would initially think I've just added 87-93 quarter windows to my four-eyed car. So it wouldn't look like some hack job by a 16-year old with no money to spend.

Second, I would be buying new parts from places like latemodel restoration, which in my opinion would only help the four-eyed crowd because it helps increase demand for the parts, thus helping supply.

Thirdly, and I don't have my production number books with me, but Ford made like 500,000 four-eyed foxes. It's not like I'm asking about converting my car into a pseudo-SVO by chopping up an original SVO.

As for being a poser, does anyone on here have Cobra wheels, a Cobra intake, Saleen wings or ground effects, 5 lug conversions, Cobra brakes, SN95 seats.........watch what you call posing.

do it, in fact do it with an 82gt nose as they are the rarest and most bad assed looking front ends for a fox. screw the haters. everyone was flaming on SVT32DOHC b/c he was going from 4 eye to aero and now that the car is done they cant leg hump it hard enough.

I haven't once flamed SVT32DOHC, nor have I humped his car. Not flaming anyone. I just hate seeing these poor cars altered like this.

My '80 Capri has suffered this fate and I'm in a desperate search for Capri parts.

Bottom line is, it's your car. Do what you want but, also, if you're going to tell all of Stangnet your intentions, be ready for all kinds of opinions.

And that's what I want to hear. But as this unfolds, the argument against it doesn't hold water in my opinion. Therefore Stangnet HAS helped me form some sort of opinion. We're dealing with a '93 4-cylinder, automatic hatch. Could they get any more common? One of the pluses is that I wouldn't have to buy new headlights every 2 years because they turned yellow.

In doing a search I've ran across quite a few absolutely gorgeous 85-86 GT's. One I've even made my desktop background. It's probably a childhood memory thing. I was just coming of age when the fox bodies finally got some balls again. When I could finally drive at age 16, the 85-86 GT's were running around in droves and I fell in love. These foxes are going to be the financial ruin of me......

Do it if you want, screw those who say dont. Altered??? EVERYTHING you do to your car is altering it, even if its taking a part off and replacing it with the exact same replacement part, its still altered. If it werent for "alterations" half our cars wouldnt run and NON of our cars would be any fun at all. Do it, its not like you cant get new replacement bumpers or even find 15 of them layin around in a good junkyard. Make the car look how YOU want!!!

My car is probably THEE biggest poser on here and I hate it. I'm in the process of swapping it back to four eye. It's not even a Mustang.

Good point, and I agree...dont worry bout the haters and those who say dont do it is what I mean, its YOUR car not theirs.

Frankenstang...its in your name LOL, if you like the way your car looks and drives and feels, then who cares what it is or isnt, if not, make the changes necessary to get it there! Show cars/garage and trailor queens are neat, as are low low mile originals, but for those of us who have your everyday, run of the mill Fox, do what you like to make it just that...what you like

Be careful how you throw around that term "hack Job" haha.

I also do not condone Cobra or Saleen clones, for the most part. Again, not something I'd do to my car, but if done well, I'd have to respect it. I'm actually so irrational, that I'm seriously considering grinding and painting over the "COBRA" text on my new calipers before I set about doing my brake swap this fall, because I hate the idea of having anything "Cobra" on a GT. I'd rather just say they are "twin piston PBRs."
