I was reading in muscle mustags and fast fords that afr put on a set of afr 165's on a bone stock 95 mustang and gained 8 tenths and 5 mph i the 1/4........so i was wondering if any of you guys have any expieince with just swapping out the cylinder heads and gainig alot more power with everything else stock????? 8 tenths for 1300.00$ isnt all that bad.

i am thiking of getting the afr's but i am wondering if any one ever ran such a good flowing head with stock everthing else?????since it will have such free flowing heads and everythig else will be such a bottle neck i am wondering if it will lose most of its low end torque but have **** loads of high rpm horses??? If that is the case then my 4.10s and the afrs will be a good combo i guess???? any one chime in.

I would have a long term plan for the Stang.

When doing the heads I would also do the cam that fits into those goals at that same time.

You then would have the most involved part of the combo build done and then do all the other little stuff as time/money allows.

I have always thought heads & cam first is a great way to start out.

I did just the heads with stock intake and cam. Ford advertises the GT40 Y303s as a 40hp over stock and they weren't lying. With just the heads with the stock stamped steal rockers I went .4sec quicker in the 1/4mile. Figuring every tenth is about 10hp the heads hit the mark perfectly. I even had the stock 4 catted H-pipe at the time.
