I have a 1969 Mach 1 with a 351 Windsor and am getting prepared for some performance work. This will be a street car, that i will occasionally race. I am shooting for 400fwhp, but right now i am at a pitiful 155rwhp :bang: . I am 5000ft elevation. Anyways any help with some ideas would be appreciated. I also don't know whether i should get the afr 185's or edelbrock victor jr.'s.

I would agree. Depends on what you want. For just a mild 351, I would probably go with the afr's. You want to get a little more radical then I would go with the vic jr's. Same price. But one thing to watch for is how big of a cam you go with. The vic's are set up for around .650 lift. Afr's are I think only good for around .550. Then you'll have to pay more for the spring upgrade. My buddy just built and dyno'd his 351 with afr 185's and a fairly mild extreme energy hyd flat tappet cam. Dyno'd at 469 hp!

Afr's are also a better match for 500 - 6500 RPM where as Vic. Jr's are from 1000 - 7000 I believe. Talk about a gas burner. So based on your other parts this should help you better determine what you will want. The key is to match up your parts.

Wow thats awesome. Was he at sea level though? Im at 5000 ft and dyno at 155 rwhp which hurts me everytime i say it. So should i be able to get those same results? I wanna do the heads cam and intake. What kind of cam is your friend running? I just dream of that power. I just bought a set of hedman elites for my car and am ready to get to work with the other performance parts this summer. Help me out guys.

Can't remember the compression. I can ask him but I think it's right around 10.5:1. the biggest extreme energy cam they got for sbf. vic jr intake with 750 holley. 1 3/4 headers. Don't know the elev. I'm in Min if that helps.
