I know I have wore you guys out on which AFR head to use for my 393 stroker, but I will throw in a new option. My question all along has been if I should use the AFR 185 or 205 cylinder head and which intake manifold, the Eldebrock RPM or Vic Jr. I found a company that does some work to the AFR 185's. They install 2.055 intake valves and do some bowl work. This puts these heads in the middle of the 185's and 205's. There direct quote from the company was "Street engines will run best with higher velocity heads. These heads are designed for a middle ground between the 185 and 205 heads." What do you guys think? I don't have flow numbers. If these are the best heads to go with, which intake should I use? Again, I am looking for 450 - 500 reliable street power. I am not interested in a high maintenance race engine. Thanks for all the help.

i would get a copy of desktop dyno or another comprable program and start plugging in numbers. get real solid flow data for the heads so the program can give you an acurate hp estmate.

i am sure both heads would work, they're just going to give you a different torque curve.

I think that will be expensive to spend $1500 on heads and then pay someone another $500 to make them some sorta perfect on paper.

If your gonna use an RPM intake, the 185s should be fine out of the box.

After this, there will be a $$ charge on any more questions you ask until you buy something!!! ;)
