I only bought the AFR 165 heads, FTI cam, lifters, roller rockers from Ed...

This is 100% daily driven...and the car should trap around 110mph maybe a tad less...

The Performer is idle to 5500 rpm and the Performer RPM is 1500-6500...

Thanks guys :nice:

Yes Ed designed it for MY combo but I'm wanting other suggestions also...people that have these particular intakes with AFR's or FTI parts...

Would the RPM be a little lacking down low...because that is one thing I don't want to lose is good ole 5.0 torque at idle and low rpm situations...

Thanks...

David

Without knowing the cam specs, i dont see how you can determine what intake to buy.. What good is it having a cam that only pulls to 5500, but an intake that goes till 6500 and vice-versa of course.

Ill stick by my original answer, talk with Ed

There are many many FTI and AFR combos.. For starters, you should be looking asking for someone with a combo similar to yours, not the guy running 205's and a 620" solid roller. Without giving the specs on your cam, your just taking a guess at what you should get. That extra hundred bucks that you spent on the custom is for his expertise and designing the cam around specific components. I would just wait for his reply or pick up the phone.

I thought it was pretty self explanatory when I put on my first post that I have "AFR 165 heads, FTI cam, lifters, roller rockers from Ed..."...it would take common sense to think well a certain intake isn't going to work with 205cc heads etc...

I'm waiting...wanting to know what other people are running and how it seems to run...my cam is very similar to these other AFR 165 combo's on here...

At least give the cam specs if you want a decent answer.
Thats all im trying to say.

Someone like Mike Yount or someone else that knows cams can give you a better halping hand and tell you which would be better.

He wont know the specs until he buys the cam. You cant very have a custom cam ground if you dont have the parts. Its a bit of a catch-22. I just got my FTI-Edelbrock RPM combo together. I can provide you with my experiences. I still need to dyno it and tune it with an air/fuel meter. So without the aide of a professional dyno tune I have driven it 1000 miles. I dont have much bottom end under 3000k maybe can get soem back with some dyno time. I am not really too upset about it. It keeps me out of getting tickets. I drove it from central WI to St. Louis for the World Ford Challenge. So far it has been trouble free. I ordered the valve spring upgrade kit from Ed as well. Your best bet with your particular setup is to talk to Ed. I can tellyou about my car all day long but its stil my car and it will be different. You have a tight ass ride, mine is a 91 calypso hatch.

Hey all. I just finished my FTI-AFR 165 engine build a little over a month ago. My car is a 1992 LX Hatchback with a 5 speed. ED told me to run a regular Performer intake on my car. I thought that was odd but thats what he said. I think it has something to do with intake velocity that matches the cam and AFR heads. The tests I've seen in the past only show the RPM intake better way at the top which is ok for a drag car, but for the street, the performer is better all around. My cam from ED is bigger than most I see posted and he still recommended the performer. The way I see it, I can always upgrade to the rpm upper later if I want seeing the lowers are the same. My car pulls to the limiter with no problem. Please tell us what he e-mails you back, I'd be interested to know. I too drove down to the WFC 7 in St. louis. Stayed at the fairfield inn in Collinsville. was a good time except the police locking the whole town down. No fun.....
