I just got my car back from the shop after getting heads and a cam installed.. now it feels more sluggish.. it felt faster before the heads/cam swap and i dont know why. my set up is in my sig. would a tq converter help out alot because of the cam? also they put the 1.6RR's on instead of the 1.7's i have because when they went to put the 1.7's on they were a little loose and they couldnt figure out why. :notnice: :nonono: :damnit:

You need a tq convertor and gears. I bet what happened was that you moved the HP range up so high with the H/C/I that now you need RPM's that you can't really get to in order to feel the power.

This seems to be inferred that you feel the same as you asked about the tq convertor as well.

The most likely cause is your new cam. You didn't give the specs on it, but you've probably moved the usable rpm operating range up by 1000 to 1500 rpm with the new cam.

Picking too "big" a cam for a street car has its disadvantages. On a car with an AODE, the only way to fix that is get a torque converter with a higher stall speed rating.

Hope you get it sorted out.

This would make me NOT have a lot of confidence in their knowledge about the small block Ford.:(

Check all v lines, electrical connections/plugs, etc.

Sometimes it just takes a while to get all of the bugs worked out from a h/c/i upgrade.

Yeah it should not feel slugish, teh CAM will not do that because it is a 2031 cam which i have and it is a very strong low-mid RPM cam that doesnt shift the power band up much at all. It should feel stronger at all rpms, something is wrong and that is why i do all my own stuff so that if i do do something wrong the people on here can help me figure it out.

:stupid: Yea I wouldn't trust them if they couldn't figure out why the rockers were loose. Sounds like they didn't know what they were doing. I agree with Grady about the vacuum lines. If you don't feel like checking all of them, hook up a vacuum gauge and see where you're at.

haha i woulda done it myself if i had the time but i only get like 1 day a week to myself and i would rather spend it resting then doing something.

well i went to check the firing order, and well i like to make things more difficuly so instead i just took all the wire off and was gonna put them on but i found that the 5-6-7 wires were touching the headers and melting. 8 was loose, acutally came off when i barely touched it. and 2 was fairly loose as well. lucky i have my msd'd that i didnt take over there. as far as the rockers, what could that be? longer pushrods?

most likely just not shimmed properly, a shim kit from ford costs like 9-$10
