I recently installed a steeda quadrant and firewall adjuster to adjust my Centerforce Dual friction. I had to put the cable on the 2nd hook of the quadrant, (the one further away from the engine and firewall) just to get the clutch to disengage with the pedal all the way down. Steeda said the other hook was the one im suposed to use. I tried to use the other hook and unscrewed the firewall adjuster until it was almost out of the wall and the clutch still would not disengage. I curently have it on the 2nd hook with the f/w adjuster unscrewed about 1/4-3/8 inch.
What are your experiences with this?

are you using the stock cable?

I know on mine, I have the stock clutch with the stock cable and I am on the first hook with the firewall adjuster about 1/4in away from the body of the car and it works great. If your on the second hook something is right according to the instructions. You can try and call steeda to see if they can help you out - when I was having problems adjusting mine I went to them for help and the guy was a prick. So I called maximum motorsports to talk to them about how thier kits and he helped me out a great deal.

If you have the steeda adjustable cable or any cable other than stock, throw it away and put the stocker back on. ALL my problems came from the stupid adjustable cable!

I've got the whole kit from steeda. Firewall adj., Adj. Cable and Quadrant, and the adjustable cable is on the same hook you have. I've been having problems with gettin the clutch to fulley disengage too... I've got the firewall adjuster about 1/2 way out and I know the clutch is fine. I think its time to chunk this crappy adjustable cable and get a stock one. Its slowly getting harder and harder to push.

Got the same kit (Steeda) and really don't have any issues with it. We adjusted at the clutch fork first, then fine tuned at the firewall. We did, however, add the MM clutch pedal adjuster gimmick - best $20 ever spent.

you guys might have the adjustable end setup wrong. on the end of the cable that attaches to the clutch fork, bring that adjuster all the way in toward the front of the car so the cable is shortened. then try to fine tune it up top with the firewall adjuster.

many people make the mistake of leaving the adjusting nut all the way out toward the rear of the car to make it easier to slide the cable into the fork. you need to use a prybar to move the clutch fork toward the front of the car then slip your cable in with it's adjuster adjusted atleast 3/4 of the way towards the front of the car. then if it's too tight take it out and slacken it somewhat.

when adjusted properly there should be no free play of the clutch fork and very very little slack in the cable.

then use the firewall adjuster as needed to fine tune the adjustment.

Right... But here is my question. I have a stock cable, 11" Dual Friction Clutch, t-45, steeda firewall adj., steeda quadrant. It is barely disengaging at full pedal depression, adjuster 1/4" away from the firewall, and cable is on the furthest hook, the one closest to the driver. What is the problem? To top it all off... The cable is so tightly adjusted, i cant turn the firewall adjuster any more.
Please help me with this issue... Thanks

ok i thought you were using the adjustable cable.

first thing is did you use the bronze adapter they gave you. if not then install that. then hook it onto the hook that is closer to the firewall and then adjust it.

get back to us and let us know what happens when you do this.

Yes, all parts were used as per the instructions... is there anything else i can do?
p.s.
the clutch would not adjust properly even with the stock quadrant and no fire wall adjuster.
the only way i could get it to disengage at full pedal depression was to set it to be very tight, lots of tensin on the cable and zero slack

it seems that for whatever reason, the clutch release lever is not deflecting the clutch all the way. I can adjust the f/adjuster so that all the slack is taken out, then a little more to add slight tension, and at full pedal depression, the clutch will not disengage.

how could i have bent the fork? Are there any specific instances where this kind of thing is comon with my setup, or did i do somehting wrong? btw, this situation has been the same since day one of the dual friction install, no sudden or gradual changes have occured, even after the new quadrant/firewall install.

yes, i am able to adjust so that the clutch engages 1/2 way into clutch pedal depression, but then the cable is way too tight, (i think). definetely tight enough so that i cant turn the f/w adjuster anymore

that is where i have it now, 1 inch. the pedal feel is great for me, problem being that im on the wrong hook... so i know somehting is wrong. and the f/w adjuster is really tight, i cant turn it.
