can you put it on the hook closest to the firewall then readjust it and tell me what happens then

that was what i tried first, its what the instructions called for. I ended up adjusting the fw adjuster untill it was almost out of the wall. even then the clutch would not disengage, zero free play.

well you can either drive it as is, try another clutch cable ( my next step) or drop the tranny and replace the fork and pivot ball.

So who makes the best cable? Isn’t the oem ford cable supposed to be the best, or is that a rumor based on improper installs of the adjustable cables?

the ford one is the best.but yours maybe streched. instead of doing the hard stuff like the fork first why not try a new cable. even if it don't work you have a nice new cable and a goods spare

im having issues also with steeda adj, and quad only after clutch change, no problem with stocker? now are you sure you think the firewall adj is almost ALL the way out??? it does have quite amount of threading on it,about 3".

oh yea, its all the way out alright... i looked under the dash to see the threads coming out.

ricky i don't think your going to get much more help on this.we told you where your problem is. your going to have to do some tests now.

one last thing. go look at your clutch fork is there any up and down movement. ( by up and down i mean like if you were tring to spin it around the input shaft, if the bellhousing was not in the way)

if it has up and down movement then it came off the pivot ball.

I guess I'm at a loss with this svttech76 - how could the clutch fork come off of the pivot ball but still function normally? If the far end of the fork was not attached to the pivot ball, then there is now way that the fork could do it's job . . .

I've got the movement you describe with mine as well. I'm going to try and drop the tranny Wednesday and dig into it. I'll post my findings if I'm able to work on it.

well it would not funtion properly. if it did funtion properly you would not be on here asking why my clutch is not working properly. coming off the pivot ball is probally not what happend here, it's most likley the clutch fork is bent. but before he yanks his trans down he should try everything he can.

thats why i suggest checking the fork and replacing the cable ( could be streched) and would'nt you want to kick yourself if you pulled a tranny replaced the fork and pivot and it was just the cable. thats why you should try the easy stuff before you do the hard stuff.

the clutch fork when installed properly and in good working order will not move like it's trying to rotate around the input shaft ( this is happening on damacman's car)

damacman let us know what you find when you pull your trans down. if i was you i would get a new pivot ball and clutch fork. they are both cheap and can be had for under 50 bucks for the both of them.

who sells cheap oem ford cable? should i just go to the dealership? autozone... who to trust for oem quality?
I saw a frpp cable on summit, is this oem quality? im lost...

found the problem - the ball gave me the shaft! As in the shaft the ball is on snapped in two. Of course, the break had to be in the end of the threads so I've got to get an EZ-OUT set and get the old threaded end out before I can replace it . . . I'll get a new clutch fork as well, as the end of it is pretty bungled up.

and of course not one ford dealer in the valley has the pivot ball in stock . . . so, I ordered an aftermarket one from McLeod that hopefully will prove more reliable.

i knew it had to be the pivot ball and clutch fork or some sort of failure of either of them. you should never be able to move the fork up and down.

i never seen one break off like that most of the time they wear down so much that the fork falls off the ball
