Is it safe to add a pair of aftermarket ignition cops like these without a tune on a highly modified car?

It's perfectly safe. Based on your mods, it looks like you would do much better with the WeaponX COP's. Much better.....

A pair? You'll need (and kit supplies) eight (8) for a 99+ car.

And yes, it's safe: plug and play.

I would not suggest mixing and matching COPs if that is what you are suggesting. Make sure all 8 are the same type. Also, if it was me I would go with the WeaponX COP if I was considering an aftermarket COP. However, Accel is a very reputable company they are most likely an acceptable COP.

anybody have any real world #'s to back up the company's claims on HP gains for COP's? Curious to see how much better than stock they really are.

im curious as well. I'm running a mix-match of cops and need to replace them with a nice aftermarket or motorcraft set.

Based on my research it looks like a lot of people have had problems with the weapon x cops....im just looking for a good reliable set of cops, if a get a few ponies out of them then great but otherwise i just want something thats going to last a while...

I would only get Accell or MSD and would rather get MSD. Go with a name brand, someone that has been making coils forever. I had a set of granetelli coils and they caused a miss over 5500 on the dyno. Swaping back to Ford coils cleared the misfire up.

yeah, reading a bunch of threads on various sites, seems aftermarket COP's are not as reliable as the OEM ford cop's. I'm thinking sticking with the stockers is probably the best idea.

Stick to Motorcraft, they put out plenty of spark for 99% of builds. If you want to get something better, skip the MSD, Granatelli, and all the rest, and go with the Weapon X's or Snipers (both the same, different stickers), they're the only ones that have shown any gain at all over the stockers.

I am thinking about rebuilding the stockers with the solid wire kit instead of the spring.

SaleenGT2001 on here is making 700+ rwhp on Motorcraft coils. He switched from a different brand because they kept breaking up.

After doing a bit of research, I would only go Motorcraft.
