been working on the car for about 1.5 hours. i got some new windshield molding because the old one was dry rotted. It is sooo tight, there is nogap between the windshield and the a pillar! any suggestions ? I've been using a putty knife and squeezing it in there, but i've only got about 8 inches done in almost 2 hours!

I think yours installs differently than my 82, but they are painful. I just bought $40 worth of clips for the hatch molding.

If the old came out, carefully look and compare the new and old. I had to clean the old, rusted clips and a lot of sealant out with a screwdriver, and compressed air. Use a block of wood or an American Chopper tool, (plastic dead blow hammer) if needed to tap it in.

No, my problem was I couldn't put the new molding back in. Plus, I found out that the part from 50resto doesn't fit. One side is too short. So i'm gonna return it to get my 40 bucks back. I just used silicone gasket maker to seal it. It looks real good.

Where did you get the molding? I'm looking to replace mine on both the windshield and back window. I cannot find any place that sells them for the life of me.

50resto has them...although i'm not sure if they have them for hatches. Mine's a vert, and they had those.

In any case, I wouldn't get the moldings from them. One side didn't fit. I was so mad, I'm still waiting for my refund from them. What I ended up doing was putting a thin silicone beading around the windshield. It looks just like the molding, if not better. Plus, it won't shrink or warp. I definitley recommend taking this route over buying the molding.

I got molding off a newer Stang on eBay and got lucky it all fit. I then painted the molding when I painted my car and it all looks great. Mine fit in and I didnt use any silicone cause I had them removed when I repainted about 3 mo later.
