Im looking to get rid of my stock induction tube. Im thinking about either the K an N FIPK, or some type of CAI...I have a 97gt, with a few mods, exhaust, PI intake, pulleys. Anyone have suggestions, and/or numbers?

A drop-in gets you nothing, while a JLT or DeMolet can get you up to 10hp.

This is one of the biggest areas of bad info people spew here.

I've got a lot of data on 99-04 GT's but we don't have access to an older one to get you exact numbers on those though.

this was one of the only mods available for us back in 96 when the mod motor was new in the mustang so every mag was doing dyno tests. If my memory is correct a drop in k&n was worth @4-5hp and a CAI was worth 7-8 hp with a k&n(on a npi gt)......It only takes one person to say its not good then everyone starts saying it....take what you read on these boards as friendly gossip...cause most people on here really don't have a clue!

Can you hit me with a link with some independent befo/afta tests on a 2V
??? Thanks. :nice:

This was done by HRTI on a '03 or '04 Cobra:

As for the 2v, here's our test done at Livernois Motorsports on our in-house project '04GT auto. We added the DeMolet full length kit which uses a Green USA filter which flows better than a K&N.

Baseline was WITH a drop-in K&N, which all of our testing has sown to be worth 1hp on average. $50 for 1hp is NOT the way to make power and still afford to eat.

We dyno test everything before we make comments about it.

i felt a difference in my power as well hearing a difference in my exhaust tone after installing a K&N FIPK. However, I did have the Superchips Performance Tune prior to installing the K&N FIPK in which I'm not sure if that contributed to the difference.
