AJE K-Member, FM Steering shaft short by 1/2 inch?!

What's up Fellas

I have AJE K-Member and was trying to replace the OEM steering shaft with Flaming River power steering shaft unit and found out that it is too short by 1/2 inch or so fully extended.

Any of you guys know which solid steering shaft will fit? I currently have the 03-04 cobra steering shaft since they are little longer then 94-98 unit fully extended.

Looks like I need the shaft with 25" or 25 1/4" fully extended to bolt right in.

Any help will be very helpful

This is for SN95 car, Which is 95 Mustang, The Flaming River unit won't work, it is too short just like the 94-98 shaft. I put the OEM new edge shaft back in there for now, But i would like to get solid shaft.

I was thinking about extend the flaming shaft and weld around it instead of bolting it in but i rather not go through the hassle, lol

The AJE K-member moved my whole engine by about 1/2 inch that's why i need the longer shaft

Question;

1 picture. Does Flaming river sell this longer shaft?

2 picture. Does this thing can be pressed out to see if it extends?

I run a AJE k and a Flaming river rack and shaft.

What ended up being the issue? Wasn't extended fully?

Okay, After getting it fit and taking a look at it, This flaming river or any aftermarket steering shaft using these set screws and lock nut is not a very smart design, These set screws can come loose even if you use red lock-tite.

I will be taking the shaft to shop to get it welded, I will post pictures of the progress so everyone know what i am taking about.

Chris, it was fully extended, But it was not enough, After researching i found out i had to take the grease fitting out to extend more since there is a slot for grease. I had no idea...

I have relocated the grease fitting and welded around the rod and u-joints

To anyone who is doing this mod,

If you buy a flaming river steering shaft, MAKE SURE to dimple the sink hole deep enough so that the set screw stay in place and use red lock-tite every set screw bolts and nuts. ALSO Be sure to weld around the ROD and U-Joints like i did, You don't want your steering shaft come loose on a freeway! Yikes!

I found out that MM uses Borgeson shaft instead of flaming river unit, MM does the same to their rods and u-joints by welding them to make sure they don't come out.

That's what I have, a Borgenson shaft from MM and it's welded just like you did above
