So my car threw a new code yesterday: P0340 Camshaft Position Sensor circuit fault. From what I've read, this is most likely a problem with the alternator. I pulled the camshaft position sensor and checked it, and it seems to be working fine. I tested the battery voltage with the engine off and it says 12.53 V, and with the engine running it showed 12.88 V. I was under the impression that with the engine running, the voltage should be 14-15 volts. I have Steeda underdrive pulleys, but I don't know if that should affect this reading or not. Is the alternator toast?

If it is, I know most people recommend using a new stock replacement alternator, but since my car doesn't have a stereo I was wondering if I should look into getting something that produces a few less amps. What amount of amperage would be sufficient? Do y'all recommend any specific alternator or brand?
