Aluminum head pitting

I am in the process of installing my KB. While cleaning the drivers side intake
area I noticed some pitting around the front coolant passage and the thermostat passage. I had thought I had smelled a whiff of coolant now and then but
had never seen any signs of a leak. The old gasket had a small broken area
around that passage so I am guessing it was leaking a bit. The pitting is
not really deep, but you can catch your fingernail on it. I am not sure if this
is bad enough where it won't seal properly for the SC. Any ideas? Hopefully
I can find someone local to look at it and give me a professional opinion.
I am hoping I don't have to replace the head. Thanks for any ideas.

what kind of gasket was it.clean it up real good and when reinstalling use a good quality gasket

if it will not seal after you clean it well you can try a small amount of RTV around the coolant passages and see if that works.
