aluminum heads

wanting to replace my gt-40's with a economical(if there is such a thing) aluminum head. I dont want to start the AFR,edel, twisted wedge debate,just seems I remeber a lower priced aluminum head from Ford, just dont remeber where or which one it was. Like a Y or something.Not really concerned with max power. Anyway, any info would be great and maybe a link to where to buy. Thanks, Randy

Why do all the work just to swtich to another GT40 head? Just to save weight? Since yours are ported I would think the hp gain would be minimal. (could be wrong) Is there something wrong with your headS?

I think you are looking for the gt40 y303 heads...just do a google on them you'll find em in a heartbeart...if there's nothing wrong with your irons I'll take em...

There's a place advertising "Aluminum Racing Heads $550/set 5.0 Custom Built" in the back of 5.0 Mustang and Super Ford Magazine. The place is called Tri State Cylinder Head Inc. www.tristatecylinderhead.com. I've been wanting to know about these heads, but don't have the clams to get them, so I haven't called them yet. Trickflow is great for the price. I believe the Gt40 alums are around 800 or 900 fully assembled where the trickflows are at 999 fully assembled.

Edelbrock heads are a good choice especially if you plan on staying with bolt down RR then it's a direct swap.

I believe summit owns trick flow which is why the prices on the trick flow heads are so good. I think if he wanted the gt40 Y's he could get them cheaper somewhere else. But I agree that trick flows would be a better upgrade since he already has iron gt40's.

Moving from those ported GT40 iorns to an Aluminum head other than the few brands that you see on a consistant basis in the 300 to 325rwhp camp is a waste of time & money.

www.buyfordracing.com has GT-40Y heads for $749 per pair. Still I wouldn't ditch his ported GT-40's for them. It would be a waste of money.
