Am I asking too much for my car?

Quick question for you guys, I have a 2001 GT that I have been trying to sell for about 2 months now and I dont know if I am asking too much. I don't want to give the car away AKA trading it in, but I am having a difficult time generating interest.

2001 GT, 56K miles, excellent condition with tons of performance updagrades (all bolt ons, no serious work) and a new stereo. I am asking blue book which is 10,200 and have not had any serious bites. Is it just a tight market out there or am I expecting too much?

I think around 10k is about right. butt with the bad economy and raising gas prices your gona have a hard time. have you tried ebay motors?

Give it time. Winter is coming to an end so with warmer weather and guys getting their tax refunds back, now is the start of the Mustang buying season.

I've had my car listed since Dec and didn't get any calls. Now ever since spring arrived, i've gotten 4 calls in the last 2 weeks.

Just be patient

I dont think that is too much,if anything I think that its on the cheap side,In tx those are going about 14k-16k stock.But most of tx dosent really have winter weather and can be driven year round,not only that but just about ervery other person in TX owns a stang....or truck.

Also I dont know where your located at but TX dealerships dont use Blue Book,they use NADA,dunno if it makes a diff or not.

See what a dealer will give you for it and ask 1G more for it.

I picked up an 04GT loaded, auto, 6 disc for trade in ...13250 with 34K on the clock back in January from a dealer. Good trade in was 12960 at that time. Car is clean with no signs of any touched up panel, never saw winter and it showed.

Mods can scare people away, people think "beat" when they see mods.

Bottom line is that it's a seven year old car. Mustang GT is more of a niche car... People think v8 gas mileage is poo poo at this point and the market has tightened up.

I've seen people get insults hurled at them on craigslist here in Chi-town for asking 5700 for an 89 fox with 179,000 on the clock.

When the market is strong with excess, KBB kind of goes out the window, when consumer spending is down, general people hold blue book like the bible.

the price is right but with the economy and the cold weather it will be hard to move it quickly. wait till late April-early May and put it up for sale again.

Like everyone else said you are just a victim of the current economy. Very few are looking at sports cars right now when they are losing homes. In fact the market is flooded with diesel trucks like mine, SUV's and sports cars and people are looking for fuel effiecient daily drivers.

Plus for the price range you are also competing with cars like the Mach I which you can now find for $13-18k with the same miles.

Not only that I have seen 05 GT's at all time lows... 18G will get you and 05 stick with about 30K on the clock. People flock towards the S197's and if they have to finance, they are better off with something newer.
