I have made the decision to replace my engine and trans. I am going to keep it very simple and found a good deal on a remanufactured longblock. I will use most of the stuff already on the car. I then have to find a tranny. I dont have the money now, but will have most of it in about 2 weeks and then will be able to buy little stuff as I need it later. This project can take 2 months if need be, I will be off work. Should I start ripping everything apart now, or wait until I have the new motor sitting in my garage? I also plan to clean up the bay alot and put some time into it.

wait till you get the new motor there so that you can just take something off and put it right on the new motor. makes it a lot easier and you wont lose bolts that way

Do it like said above when the motor is in. That way you don't forget crap whenever you go to hook it up. Labels help a lot, but you can forget a lot in those 2 months.
