So last week one of my tires blew. I went to buy some 275-40-17 which were back order because they were out of stock. The plan was for them to go on the stock 8'' rims which i was told by a local shop would be fine. later that night i found these would not fit well so i contacted them and cancelled the order and replaced an order for 245. long story short my tires came yesterday 3 of which being 285-35-18s and 1 being 275-40-17 WTF REALLY i dont even have a matching set.... so im still out of a car. huge inconvience

So what the hell do i do now? Was thinking of getting some 18'' rims but will the 285 fit a 9'' front rim without rubbing? (plan on lower in the future) i know they'll be good with a 10'' rear.

Ok, I''m dizzy now.

You ordered tires, got the wrong ones, and now want to order rims for the tires you got?

Have you talked to AM yet about the order?

If not, you're in luck. We happen to have a couple here.

You go visit/call the place you ordered the tires from and tell them of their mistake and tell them they need to make it right.

On the other hand, you had cancelled 1 order with them already so to me that kinda says to me both you of the customer and company made mistakes. Good customer service should always win out so they should expedite getting you your tires unless they get them through a second supplier and then you will be probably on the same time frame.

Just to clarify, was the the American Muscle we all know and are sponsors on here or just the title you chose?

TX
I am refering to the "godfather" company. I'm very upset for multiple reason.
1st being this is the email I recieved after placing the order

The following item that you ordered is currently out of stock:
Sumitomo High Performance HTR Z II Tire - 275/40-17 (99-04 All)

We are expecting our new shipment to arrive within 1-2 weeks. We apologize for any inconvenience. We have shipped the balance of your order. At this time we can offer you one of three options listed herein:

1. We can switch your backorder to any similar products found on our website AmericanMuscle.com. (Different color, size, etc..).

2. We can place your backorder on hold until the out of stock item is back in stock, at which time we will ship it out to you immediately.

3. We can cancel your backorder.

So thats what i did a half hour later on july 21. I finally got a responce the 24th saying i could still cancel and i responded once again that i would. I never heard from her again

And did you ever think to call?

Just reading your posts here,I'm a bit confused.
Just imagine those emails!

For the record,I've ordered quite a few times from American muscle, never a problem.
But if I ever do have a problem, a phone call is the very first thing I do.

Yeah... I can't think of a time that they've not sent the thing that I ordered.

I mean... I'm sure mistakes are made but I've re-read this whole thread and I STILL don't know what size tire you expected to find when you opened the box.

Granted, they should have all come in one rim size... lol But when you cancelled/changed the initial order, what size tire(s) did you order in their place?

where did you get 50? 245-45-17 is the size that i needed. that is stock tire size. i mistakenly ordered 275-40-17 but like i posted above these 275 were out of stock on backorder supposedly for 1-2 weeks. so i was give the option to

So i did... I responded to the backorder saying i wanted the 245-45-17 and even provided the following link http://www.americanmuscle.com/sumitomo-htrzii-245-45-17.html

what did i get... three tires in the sizes 285-35-18 and one tire in the size of 275-40-17

Got it... So if you ordered 245-45-17s and they shipped the wrong tires then you shouldn't have any problem getting them to send you the ones that you ordered.

If it was their error then I'm guessing that they would pay for return shipping. If you call them, you can likely get an RMA number.

Just be cool and articulate the story clearly from start to finish when you talk to them.

You should have at least a 10 inch wide wheel for a tire that size.

Nope... not very likely. I was looking around for a chart that I used to have but can't seem to find it anymore.

It was just a simple thing that gave suggested rim width for XXX/XX side tire.

Looks to me like you ordered a 275/40-17 and not what you thought you did? Maybe just entered wrong but I would assume you copy/pasted that from the order..

FWIW, a 275/35/17 will fit on a 8" wheel, it will be bulging pretty good though.

As noobz stated just contact AM and they will get you squared away. They are one of the few companies I don't hesitate when I order from because if there is ANY issue they will get it resolved!

Here's reference chart:

http://customwheelsmarket.com/rimwheelwidth1.html

It doesn't have every size under the sun but you can get the gist from it.

Personally, I wouldn't run a 275 series tire on an 8 inch rim unless I were only planning a straight line drive like the track.

You run the risk of rolling the tire off the rim on the street. Even with a radial. As for the 285 on the same rim? Forget about it.
