Does anybody know if it would be possible to order a coupe with the stiffer rocker panels and better body joints that the vert has? My dealer said there was no difference between the two cars, but in the 2006 sales guide it states "Body joints and rocker panels were designed to be more rigid then those on the coupe" So looks like they (the dealer) aren't going to be any help.

nope, its an assembly line thing. you cant order vert parts to be installed on a coupe. just check out BMR for some chassis support.....

The coupe and vert differ because of the verts lack of stability from it not having a solid body support like the coupe does. The term "Better" would be figuratively speaking. Verts are heavier, 100-200 pounds or so typically, so its a known fact that they tend to be slightly slower than coupes due to this added weight.
IN MY OPINION If you want a coupe, get it and then have lower control arms installed and relocate them with the relocation brackets. Then new performance springs and you would be set for performance handling.
Type it into the search, check it out you will see there are many posts and opinions and even installation hints from many stangnet members about it.

Rule one, never hack up a car not designed to be. else it'll handle like a limp raddish in the bends.
And no I doubt you can order any different parts, these cars are not hand built, so it would not be possible to make one off custom orders. Not unless you are very well connected with a very large bag of cash.
Also, much R&D would have gone into the Vert, a targa roof would react differently so the same changes may not help as much.
Personally I wouldn't hack up a car not intended to be, as it'll ruin it. Invalidate you warranty and probably become quite dangerous if you where ever in an accident.
