And another problem....

It just seems I can never get away from problems with this car . So when I first come outside in the morning and turn the car on, it starts up normal with no problems and runs good. Say I turn it off and start it back up, it shakes like crazy! It shakes even worse between 900 - 2600 RPM. I thought maybe it was the sparks plugs since I just through in a set of Bosch platinums not too long ago so I went and got just basic spark pluges and installed those, but it was still there. I even pulled the codes on it and to no avail. Could someone please give me some insight on what it could possibly be. Sometimes it doesn't shake at all, but more times it does than never.

I was afraid you would say that....How hard is it to put on??

As with the exhaust, I like it for the price I paid for it. I bought it from Summit. Fairly easy to put on. They supply mostly everything. I went ahead and did a little spot welding though because if you use the bolts only, it has a tendency to start to hang if you hit too many hard bumps. Overall though, I enjoy it. Wondering if it would beneficial to put turn-downs on it??

the balancer isn't hard to put on at all. Just time consuming. If you don't have any major mods to your car you can get a new balancer from napa. You will need to drain your radiator, take your fan, overflow tank, and radiator out of the car. Unless you are strong enough to loosen the crank bolt you will need an impact gun and harmonic balancer puller. If you want any more info PM me and I will guide you through it...it's really pretty easy and the likely culprit

I'd be thinking that it's more of an electrical issue. When it starts and runs like poop, I'd try running a cylinder balance test to see if the misfire is random or relegated to a couple of cylinders.

Good luck.

I agree with Hissin and the former coments as well. It does sound like it could possibly be a bad injector or wiring, but I wouldn't rule-out the balancer just yet. Also have a look at your plug wires. But if it is a misfire and lasts for a good rpm range, chances are the cylinder balance test will find the problem cylinder(s).

I'm going to drive it around a little more then run the cylinder balance test. I had to unhook the battery last night so I could put new bolts and apply locktite to them to keep the starter from coming loose. I'll have more information for you guys in awhile. Thanks for all your help :SNSign:

So I tried to pull more codes and do the cylinder balance test, but it wouldn't pull codes in KOER. ?? wierd...Anyway I start her up this morning and take a look under the hood and what do you know; the harmonic balancer is just dancing all over the place. I went and bought a new one and the weight part on the balancer was completely detached from the center bore thingy. W/e I removed the balancer, you could see where it had ate about a 3 inch long hole into the top of the block ...It's my fault I guess for not fixing it, but now everything works great, except for the big freaking hole. It's not leaking oil that I can see anyway. I wonder how long it's been there???

Thanks for everyone's input. Also, I got away with the install by just removing the overflow tank and the fan. The bolts also were not hard to get off either, no air tools required...

hhmm likely chewed-up part of the timing cover. Keep an eye on it, if it ever leaks you can get a new one, but they're not exactly cheap or easy to find. Glad to hear it was an easy fix though... :nice:

i knew it was one of thoes damn buggers again....
