I found a a dealer who sell American racing for a resonable price. I am in particular looking at a set of 17x8 TT2's Now would a 4inch backspacing be better than the 4.75 for my 68. I do believe the 4.75 is what I want however Im just wondering about the other one. Any insight?

4 inch backspacing is WRONG for your mustang. You need 4.75 IMO. Here's a couple pics of my 65 with the 4.75bs. Now since the TTiis only come off the shelf in 4.75 you are in luck...have you considered what tires to use yet? You can also run the 4.5 wheels I think it limits your maximum rubber however. Feel free to read through my wheel chart for fitment of tire and wheels with mods taken into account:
