Annoying sweaky throwout bearing - adjustable clutch the cure?

A TOB that makes noise at rest and more noise under load does suggest a TOB that is going bad. The bearing retainer can be contributing as well.

i just finished doing my clutch and here is a few things i noticed this time (i did it a year and a half ago too. i did a spec stage 2, new iron flywheel, bearing retainer, and maximum motorsprorts cable kit

-go with the FORD tob. it seems to be better than any aftermarket one. my original one was in the car for 87,000 miles and didnt make a peep.

-if you do an ajustable cable, i dont think you can get by with out the tob touching the pressure plate. If leave too much slack in the pedal (so its not touching), it may not disengage all the way by the time the pedal is on the floor. i would rather preload it a hair then shift without the clutch disengaged all the way:shrug:. watch out for that.

-my king cobra that was in the car for 16,000 miles had a squeaky tob from day one. also the crappy adjustabe cable i used sucked. i had no preload so it would not squeak all the time. but like mentioned before, this may have screwed up my bearing retainer. mine was disformed and scored where the tob rides so i had to put a new one in.

I disagree, I have a new Ford tob and it squeaks and it seems to me that a lot of people with the fords have the same problem. When I had my plastic SPEC tob in it did not squeak at all. Even though it was plastic, I'd put that back in over another Ford one.

i just put a spec stage 2 in my car on saturday. It came with a metal tob. It was just a replica of the ford one:shrug:

but i used the ford one instead
