another alt question

ok i went and tap into the black harness on the bottom harness the one on the lower alt. ran a wire from the harness on the alt pos side to pos side of battery, and i still only running 11.6 volts to battery and 11.6 at alt. took the alt to autozone they said it was good. took it murrays auto sale they said it was good. so why im i only getting 11.6 volts at battery and 11.6 at alt

Alternator wiring

Starter solenoid wiring 86-91 model cars
Connect the fused 4 gauge wire to the alternator and the battery side of the starter solenoid.

Starter solenoid wiring 92-93 Model cars.

I called summit racing they said its a true one wire hook up pos cable back of alt to the battery or starter. I used battery. they told me that's all I have to do. its a 100 amp alt made by powermaster kind of looks like a gm alt but its universal
